Overview

Unleash is an open-source feature management platform that runs entirely on your own hardware. Wrap a risky change in a flag and turn it on or off at runtime without redeploying, target it at specific users or segments, roll it out gradually by percentage, and A/B test variants, all from one dashboard.

Features

  • Runtime feature flags you can toggle without redeploying
  • Percentage rollouts, user and segment targeting, and A/B test variants
  • Projects, environments, and per-flag activity history
  • SDKs for your own services to connect and ask which features are on, so flag state lives on your home server instead of a vendor cloud
  • Managed PostgreSQL database provisioned automatically, nothing to wire up

Setting up

Unleash starts with a single administrator account:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: generated uniquely for your install and shown on this app's page in malmo

Sign in with that password, then change it from your account settings. From there you can invite the rest of your household and create projects, environments, and flags.

Good to know

Email is optional. Password resets, user invites, and the productivity report are delivered by email, so those features do nothing until an administrator adds an outgoing email account in malmo and binds it to this app. Everything else, including first login, works without it.

Invite and reset links are built from this app's address. On the appliance that is your box's local network name, so those links only open from a device on your home network until remote access ships; on hosted they use your public URL and work from anywhere. The dashboard and SDK connections work fully either way.
