Paperless-ngx
Scan, index, and archive your paper documents: searchable, tagged, and filed away.
by Paperless-ngx
Overview
Paperless-ngx turns your paper pile into a searchable digital archive. Drop a scan, photo, or PDF into the Scans folder inside your Documents and it's picked up within seconds, OCR'd into searchable text, tagged, and filed. Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and their LibreOffice equivalents) and saved emails (.eml) are supported too, converted and indexed on the way in.
Features
- Automatic OCR and full-text search across every scanned or imported document
- Office documents and saved emails (.eml) converted and indexed alongside scans and PDFs
- Organize and browse by correspondent, document type, tag, and date
- Original files are absorbed into the archive, so the intake folder stays an inbox, not a copy

malmo provisions and manages the PostgreSQL database automatically, so there's nothing else to configure before use.
Good to know
OCR only supports five languages (English, German, Italian, Spanish, and French); documents in other languages are archived but won't be full-text searchable. Sending email (password resets, the "send by email" workflow action) needs internet access and your own mail provider bound in Settings; without one, Paperless simply sends nothing.
