Overview
Nextcloud is a full private-cloud suite: sync and share files across every device, share links with expiring passwords, and run calendar, contacts, and lightweight office collaboration from one instance. malmo provisions and manages the MariaDB database it needs automatically, so there's nothing to configure on that front.

Setting up
On first boot the admin account is created automatically. Sign in and change the password immediately, since it's the same on every fresh install:

Outgoing mail (password resets, share notifications) isn't configured automatically; set it up in Nextcloud's own Settings, Basic settings, Email server screen. Everything else works without it.
Good to know
Background maintenance (trash cleanup, federation sync, notifications) runs opportunistically when someone visits the app, not on a fixed schedule. An instance nobody visits for a while runs no maintenance in the meantime.
